(2024) ‘I hear you roar of a life that is forever’ is a summer dream split in four parts. Based on Finnish mythology and Lilla’s almost spiritual connection to a specific lake located in Southern Finland, the story follows its protagonist diving into the green-golden murky depths of a lake, where they find solace and peace in being carried by its waves while getting lost in the infinity of the blue summer sky above them. As they float and dream, a storm starts brewing above them - but sensing that the lake won’t let any harm come to them they decide to remain in the water instead of seeking shelter on land. A lightning bolt shoots down as the eye of the storm is right above the protagonist -but instead of being hit, the lake’s spirit pulls them into a deep and protecting embrace, which leads to the shedding of the protagonist’s human skin and them becoming one with their fluid guardian.
The story is told through four individual looks, each representing a different stage of the protagonist’s transformation from human to water spirit. Alongside strongly focusing on using renewable and natural materials, this collection of looks aims to highlight the beauty and importance of craftsmanship. All pieces have been hand-woven, -knitted and -printed from sustainably sourced raffia and deadstock natural-fibre yarn.
