(2021) Fallen asleep in a lush green summer meadow, ‘the compleat farmer’ is the protagonist’s daydream of becoming one with the fields that are being cultivated - of growing into being part of the house and tools, plants and harvest. Upon awakening, summer has almost passed - the green has turned into the harvest-yellow of bygone sunny days and the ground has dried up. As they rise, they realise nature has spun around their body, the last breath of summer clinging on.
‘The Compleat Farmer’ is inspired by a carefully reconstructed book on how to become a farmer, where nature, humans, tools, and plants transform into each other and communicate through a language of flowers and lore. All pieces are entirely hand-knitted and -crocheted from sustainably sourced raffia.
